Mobile alcohol delivery service apps nears top of download list
Yesterday, this blog covered a number of different businesses that have emerged that use a weekly/monthly subscription service and send regular packages to their customers' doorways. However, this is not the only new age delivery service that has been created.
A recent article from the Boston Business Journal profiled the Boston-based alcohol delivery service Drizly. The company is based around an iOS and Android application that is used by consumers to instantly place orders for beer, wine and alcohol that is then delivered on the same day, with a goal of 30 minutes or less. The app has had tremendous success in the Boston area since it was released and has since expanded to other cities including Chicago and Denver.
The app has been download hundreds of thousands of times and tens of thousands of deliveries have been completed. As of the time of this writing, the application currently sits as number four on the Apple App Store list of most downloaded free apps in the "Food and Drink" category.
"The startup has raised a total of $4.8 million in funding to date, from investors including Atlas Venture and Continental Investors," the article reads. "The funding is being used to expand to other cities around the country."
This shows how a business that is created entirely around fast and reliable delivery can thrive with the right idea. Any business that has a delivery component needs to make sure it is optimized. This is where a third party logistics service can be the best course of action to make this possible.
